The 7-Eleven clerk was able to make out the number, and I activated the time immediately -- fortunately, because I lost the receipt on the way home (a new jacket with a "pocket" that wasn't a real pocket). In the past I have written the number in ballpen on the receipt, but this time decided that I was being overcautious.

I photocopy everything that I get on thermal paper as soon as I get it.

That's a great suggestion. These days almost everyone has a copier/scanner.

yes i've had receipts (not 7-11 specifically) fade to blank paper over a period of couple months, kept indoors aswell. then when i had to get warranty service the receipt was blank and I had no proof of purchase. they should outlaw that stupid thermal paper, fax machines stopped using it 10 yrs ago already

Or you could just write in pen on the paper. If the printed numbers fade, you will still have the number written in ink on the paper. Another suggestion would be to not keep the top-up voucher in a car. With all the temperatures a car can go through (especially this time of year), it would be wise to keep the voucher indoors.

The top-ups are printed on heat-sensitive thermal paper. It's possible that extreme heat or cold could render them useless. Heat turns them brownish-black. Cold could cause them to slowly fade.

My advice? Copy the activation number to your phone as a memo. that way, you have it when you need it.

Has anyone had experience with top-up cards blanking out, and 7-Eleven response. Completely blank bottom of "card". Speakout Customer service says take back to store from which purchased. Any idea what one should expect? Bought two $25, and stored together for ten days, one illegible, the other fine.
