I topped up one day after the expiry date and lost my balance. Fortunately, there was only less than $5 on the account, but when you only top-up with $25, that $5 could have lasted me a few more months!

Online fill up and account management is very good. Works better in IE than Firefox.

Now to check the VOIP clients and APN settings.

I know it is out of curiosity but ...

Now, for some other countries prepaid, I did play this game as their have an almost a month(or 45 days) grace period to keep the blance. Extending a 180 day expiry by 10%, that may worth it.

A friend of mine just lost the previous balance on her phone by letting it go over the time by a few days because she forgot to buy airtime and only realized her time had expired when her phone didn't work.

I phoned SpeakOut on her behalf and the CSR told me that the numbers don't go into recirculation for 45 days after the expiry date, so if you buy airtime within approximately 30 days after expiry it will reinitiate the number but not the money balance. She advised not pushing the 45 day "limit".

That is exactly what happened when we bought the airtime. As it applied, everything re-activated with only the amount I had just put on the voucher. 5 minutes later, the outstanding $1.25 911 fee was also taken off. She had about $50.00 on the phone peior to the expiry, so it was an expensive lesson.

I really would not want to recommend this, especially with this high a balance, but a while ago, a member had reported they still kept a balance 5 days after expiry. I have personally done it 1 day after expiry. No way I would recommend this though, it could be a freak occurrence for all I know.

I'm pretty sure this question has come up before, and the consensus was that on the "expiry date", your balance would be set to zero. So, you need to top up on the day before the Expiry Date, or sooner. Of course, there is then the question of which time zone is used to determine today's date... Is that 11:59pm in Toronto, or in the time zone associated with your phone's area code?

If the stated Expiry Date is Dec.12, 2011, then I would add the top-up early in the day on Dec.11, or even the day before.

I wouldn't tempt it, but I would think you have until 11:59 pm tomorrow. I always fill mine the day before it expires just to be safe.
