        	        	<description><![CDATA[<p>I've had the auto time update feature turned on for about three months now and I haven't been charged anything for it.</p>
<p>The phone doesn't have to send any signals to update its clock. Every GSM tower constantly sends out a stream of data that includes (among other things) the current time and date, the network name, the area code, the channel numbers for all nearby towers etc. Every phone has to listen to this data stream anyway, but it can choose to ignore the time &#38; date if it wants to.</p>
