Hi, I bought my parents a couple of Speakout phones last year for Christmas, but they found them to be too small and hard to use. So this year, I picked up a couple of locked Doro 410 PhoneEasy senior phones for them at Rogers. I popped in my Speakout sim card to test one out, but the Doro didn't recognize it (just continues to say insert sim card). I figure I probably have to activate the phone first with the included Rogers sim card, but I just want to make sure that this will indeed work (they probably won't let me return it, if I activate it right?).
I don't have much experience with cell phones and I just need a bit of reassurance to know that I'm on the right track. Thanks.

phone doesn't need activation of any kind, except that stupid iPhone. If it cannot see the SIM, it cannot. Either it is faulty or incompatible.

Well, that's unfortunate. I had read on these forums that Speakout sims would work on locked Rogers phones and that's why I bought the Doro phones from them. I asked the salesperson too, and they said it should work. I will give the phones to my parents for Christmas anyways and see if their sims will work just to be sure, but I imagine I'll be returning them next week. Thanks for the reply.

I just tried the sim on the other Doro phone and it works fine. So, I guess the first one is defective. I will exchange it tomorrow… thanks for the help.
