My settings are identical to these.

I have done the restore thing as well, but will try again just to be thorough and then report back.

Well just to confirm, another restore and still the browser does not work.

I appreciate all your help people.

I think I am throwing in the towel, if I put a value on my time, staying in a data contract would have already paid for itself over the last 2 days.

I would just like to say then that "NOT ALL ROGERS 3G IPHONES WILL WORK WITH THE SPEAKOUT BROWSER".

I have tried everything possible multiple times and it just doesn't work. Too bad I really wanted a pay as you go plan with internet.

I think you are throwing in the towel a little quickly. You are not getting the error message that was typical with blocked 3G phones. Call Speakout and have someone else turn off your data and turn it back on. I have seen cases where the problem was on Speakouts end.

Yeah I'll give it another try, I just wanted to cancel it before the 72 hour grace period as I can't devote much more time to it in the short-term. I have HUGE deadlines and I was procrastinating way too hard on this while mainly sitting surrounded by wi-fi so I don't "really" need it NOW type of thing.

I honestly tried every single thing multiple times including having the data reset. One customer service woman I talked to this morning was fantastic, the latter one just too happy to get me off the phone and cancel the wireless when I told her it was an iphone. I'm sure you're right...I think I will ask the operators for their names or extensions after finding a good one and then requesting them the next time.

Overall, I'm still very happy to have an iphone on pay as you go as there's lots of free wi-bi in BC where I can skype and the price was right on the phone. Browsing would be the icing on the cake

Loving the 3G! Even going through the proxy, speed is MUCH faster than on Edge.

I just hope the 3G is not accidental. I'd hate for Rogers to slam the door in our face after teasing us with this.

Yay it finally works!!! All I can figure is that it must have been setup incorrectly on Speakout's end before like andreww suggested.

The browsing is suuuuper slow on E network MUCH faster on 3G and I can still make/receive both calls and texts no problem.

This resource is amazing so thanks to whomever started it and all those who have chimed in.

I didn't realize that it's 3G now although i noticed the connection sign had changed from E TO 3G…

just connect to my laptop and use my NOKIA5800 as wireless modem…download speed changes from 0.3M before to 2.3M now.

however it's still WAP, not full internet data service. many app cannot run on WAP.

can anyone share your voip app which can run on goam.com? thx a lot..

emm, it shows 3.5G actually...amazing!

From what I understand push notifications can never work on speakout. They are locked to your original carrier on iphones. Unless you are on wi-fi, push won't work.

Its doesn't really have so much to do with you not using the original carrier, as speakout blocking the notifications from Apple. If your phone is able to get push notifications over wifi, then it has been properly activated via Apple and should be able to receive the notifications from them. I would assume that the push notifications are sent over a different (not 80) and are simply blocked by Speakout.

anyone having issues with the facebook app, on iphone over speakout 3g?
I am unable to send or receive facebook messages. When i go into a particular persons group of messages under the message button, there is an icon saying no messages. i know for sure there are messages in there as i was meaning to reply to them. i then tried to send a message and an error box came up saying error unable to send at this time.

ideas?

i will see how things go when i go home and test it on wifi.

Messaging doesn't work in facebook. Never has. Also under the "Friends" tab, it always says you have no friends. Other than those items it seems to work okay.

hmmm wierd.
i am almost certain it was working the other day whilst i was away from the house. oh well.
when i do click on a friend, i cannot view their phot albums either.
maybe my brain is just tired....
so basically, the facebook app, you can only view the news feed and respond to posts on the news feed and post status updates?
tnx andreww

Messaging kinda works. I can send a message, my friend can receive it and reply. I cannot reply to his message though, and I cannot see anything but the title of the message. If I click on his message I get a "No New Messages" screen. With no Push notifications, it kind of useless. The only messenger service that I've found that works okay is yahoo messenger. Still no Push, but it does give you a faint "beep" when you get a new message.

The excitement over 3G data seems to have died off.

Can anyone update if data is still working well on 3G and if works through both internet.com or just on goam.com on 3G ?

I'm hoping some of the people sucessful in getting their 3G iPhone to work are still watching this thread.

I originally tried to get it working last year, only to discover that the 3G phones were blocked. I just happened to check back on this thread earlier in the week, and was excited by the prospect of the 3G iPhones working now.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able get it working so far.

Some history - I was a Speakout Wireless customer, but switched to Petro Canada when the 7 Eleven stores closed down here in Ottawa. From what I've read, both plans are managed by the same company, and appear to be using the same network settings. When I switched plans, there was no change of SIM, and my iPhone still shows 'Speakout' as my network provider today.

I've activated the unlimited wireless through the help desk, and now see the 'E' and '3G' depending on whether I enable 3G on the phone or not. The iPhone is still not seeing an internet connection though, and Safari indicates I'm not connected. I've tried the 3 different proxy profiles, and have done a full reset after trying each one - no luck.

My next step will be to try a fresh build. I'm still back on iOS 3.12 (jailbroken) - not sure if this is contributing to the issue or not.

Any advice will definitely be appreciated!
