I've read that getting a SIM is $10 and some say that a SIM is $25. How much is it? And does that $10/$25 SIM have $10/$25 of air time or must I buy another $25 voucher in addition to the $25 SIM?

About number porting, can I port the number over from another phone at any time (like a few month after activation) or must it be before I activate the Speakout SIM?

10 bucks with NO value in the SIM. 25 I assume you mean the top up which you add after activation.

you can only port the number after activation, any time(say 10 years later if SO is still there).

Some background on the $25 SIM. Before the $10 SIM was available online and in stores, you were able to use a $25 voucher (purchased in-store) and then use it to order a SIM card from the phone-based customer service line; it came with $5 airtime:

You might still be able to do this, but I'm not sure.

So in-store I have to spend $10 + $25 to get started on Speakout.

Yes. $35 plus tax. Once activated, the credit is good for a year if you do not use the phone much. Out of that $25 balance, you are charged $1.25 each month for the 911 fee.

They now will ship the sim to you.

Shipping costs are $4.20 when I clicked thru the links – not sure if shipping cost is location based…

They'll also ship a phone to you as well…
