Perhaps a temporary glitch? I just tried, message was sent from cell but after 1 hour not yet received by my email even though I was charged the dime. It has worked for me in the past.

Tried agaih this a.m. and no problem, email arrived almost instantaneouly from my SO cell.
Note: I checked my outgoing log re my previous attempt (see post above) and notice I had used eleven 0s, rather than the required 10. This is why my previous attempt failed.

I'm curious if the charge for using this feature is just a standard text charge and if on the $10/2500 texts plan if using this feature just counts as one text or if it is an additional charge?
I am one of those dinosaurs that has never texted anyone. I want my son to be able to text something to my gmail account and ultimately I would like to be able to use gmail or msn to be able to 'text' him. I'm not sure if that is possible in canada. I understand that with google talk in the states you can do this.
Does anyone know how to initiate a text to a Canadian SO phone from a computer?

http://www.textem.net is free and works fine for me. The only trick is it might NOT work if somoene is using another provider's cell on Speakout.
My phone acknowledges the computer to text Text'em message, but because Rogers has proprietary software installed that wants to route through their services it says I need to sign up to Rogers retrieve it. (I'm not savvy enough to know if there's a way to disable this )
I've had no problems sending emails to other cell phones and you can choose to have the replies go to the Text'em site or to another pre-determined email address.
