Is it possible to use the SO web browsing service with Skype?

Are there other VOIP services that will work?

I have a Asus P527 Windows Mobile 6.1 Phone/PDA that works fine with SO phone service.

TIA

Doubt it, connection is way too slow, if it was on 3g you could but speed and latency on edge
is to slow

No. The Rogers WAP portal filters undesirable non-browser traffic, for obvious reasons. They're not in the business of giving away voice traffic if they can help it. 😉

Actually Skype doesn't work well even if you have a data plan. I have a Rogers Internet Stick and Skype works where I can get HSDPA level coverage -- but on just 3G it won't work well if at all. The voice down toward the computer (or smart phone) is ok as it gets reasonable speed. The upbound traffic is so severely compressed and hacked up that the other party can't hear you -- if the call doesn't crash.
So you are dealing with both access limitations and technical difficulties.

There is an iPhone app that establishes the link on the digital side of the iPhone and then completes the actual call over the voice link using their Skype Out credits. Google around for the app. I forget what it is called. It isn't likely a very good deal on a Speak out phone because you are paying for the voice call twice -- on SO and on Skype. It might be ok with an unlimited voice plan.
