Hi, i have about $180 remaining on my 7/11 phone. My brother company is offering a good deal, so he has decided to change his plan, but he doesnt want to cancel the plan he has already, so i offer to take it from him.
Question 1- Can i port my number to his phone even though i have money left in my account
question2- is there anyway i can sell the $180 and phone, but not the phone number, because i need to port it on my brother exiting plan.

None that I'm aware of. Either use the $180 on SO, then port the number –or– sell the SIM/phone number with the $180 credit.

i'm thinking of porting my number from telus to speakout but i'm not sure of some things.

if i port over to an unactivated sim, i'm guessing there's no charge from what i've read?

but if i port over to a sim that's already been activated and used, will i have to pay $10? and any existing airtime on the account will be lost?

thx

Correct.

Your new SO phone is preactivated in any case and has a phone number assigned to it as indicated on the box the phone came in. When you port in your Telus number, the original number on the box will be deactivated. Any credit on that number will get transferred to your old Telus number as part of the port process.

but if i port over to a sim that's already been activated and used, will i have to pay $10? and any existing airtime on the account will be lost?

No and no. See my previous paragraph.

The OP's situation is altogether different, i.e. he wants to keep his SO number and airtime but transfer service from SO to another carrier.
