Is this possible? Will I lose any features?

I just got a new C3, haven't activated it. I want to use my old SIM card so I don't lose my number. If I don't need the new SIM I'm going to sell it off or give it to a friend.

Edit: I should mention that I'm a current Speakout customer, and my SIM is from Speakout as well.
