Just fired up a Speak Out sim card in my old Nokia phone. How do I drag my old phone number onto the new sim card???

And, is that what they call porting???

It depends on how old the phone number is. If left too long without being active, the number will be deactivated.

The phone number is associated with the sim card, not the actual phone.

Yes. Porting is moving your phone number from one provider to the next.

Just a few days. I was on a Chatr account, and, that account is still active. Figured I would keep it open for a month while I try this out.

You can not do the "PORTING" of the number from one carrier to another yourself.

You MUST contact Speakout with a valid new SO SIM card and then have the old number ported to the new SIM card.

Your current Chatr account must be active still to do this.

Also if you port the number to the SO SIM card your Chatr SIM will be deactivated. You can not swap cards or numbers back and forth and have them operating on both carriers!

If you saved your phone numbers in phone memory then its also have a option to change phone memory contacts into sim memory.you can easily save your phone number into new sim card.
