Is there any way you can get a 604 number for Vancouver and lower mainland?
It seems all companies such as PCan, Shaw, etc are assigning 778 numbers and no 604 are available (or so they tell me).
I can't belive it's impossible to get 604's anymore.
What is more annyoing is that you who live in Vancouver will be getting 778 but people who lives in Chilliwak, Whistler, etc and are long distance are still having 604 numbers.

I bought a new phone at 7/11 only two weeks ago in downtown Van and it came with a 604 mobile number. My friend was surprised I got one, he thought you could only get 778 numbers now for cells. I didn't overly care, 778 is well established now as a cell phone area code for Vancouver but yeah just wanted to say they are still available.

Well the most annoying thing is that I got Shaw Phone 2 months ago and I had to go with a 778 number. And that's a landline.

I just bought a Nokia 5200 with a 604 area code. The other two 5200s that store had in stock also had 604 numbers.

I think it all depends on what numbers are available when the phones are pre-activated. There is always turnover – people cancelling their phone service and their 604 number then becomes available.

You can always try another store and ask what they have.
