didn't know there are android for bell, may be that is a different scene. It probably is as my Optimus One was unlocked really cheap. And yes, people are very keen on Android, got 3 of them for about 40 bucks each and sold @ 170 on ebay.

Thank you Chipanzee and Other forum members for the input.

I purchased the sony ericsson phone t715a for $75 and it works by fido. I went to return it but future shop just told me to hold the on button for a while and it worked.

Now i have to unlock it will use those links given in the earlier of this post.

Not sure if i can do it for free like bridonca did.
Yes the samsung 550 seemed to be a good phone the sale is in walmart until Aug 25 and even President choice is selling it for $75 but i am sure they will do a price match if you show the walmart flyer if walmart runs out of this phone. I liked the touch screen for typing text without a keyboard.

if you like touch screen, the Galaxy Gio is a slightly better one(my Optimus one while were a nice device is a bit slow due to the 600Mhz CPU), assuming it is unlockable.

One thing I am not sure is that their HSDPA seems to be dual band and so it may not work in Asia/Europe, but it can always fall back to GSM/EDGE, just slower.

Thank you chimpanzee i will just stay with this sony ericsson as it is quad band
Now to find a cheap way to unlock it.

Also just for others the samsung 550 walmart phone has expandable memory and gives a scandisk chip with it also. It is world phone
I heard in another thread that somebought the same phone and did not get the chip.

almost all android can take micro SDHC so kind of expandable and they are all world phone as all are quad band GSM.

It is the 3G part which some are better. If it is a dual band, it usually doesn't work in Asia/Europe for a NA model(just like the good old days of GSM when dual band GSM is not compatible between these two place).

This is what I received after asking to unlock my Nokia 1661:
"Hello,

Unfortunately we are not able to provide the unlock code for your handset as we do not have codes for devices that are over 2 years old."

Too bad...
