Great for my mom!

I got the speakout kit with Nokia 1600 for $75. Basically the promotion where you get the 1600 for $49 when you buy a $25 refill. Too bad I missed out on the $100/free phone deal.

My mom is a super light user. She calls her kids just to tell us to come home for dinner or visit sometime. She has her phone on silent and doesn't answer the phone. Just purely for outbound calls only.

Previously, I had her on PC Mobile. 20c/minute. And a $25 topup card lasts 60days. A bit of a hassle since my mom is completely illiterate when it comes to any electronic, so you can forget about having her try to punch in a long PIN to top up cards. I had to do it for her every 2 months... She has over $100 banked up.

Now with Speakout I have to do it yearly! I top it off with about $100 and she should be good to go for a year.

The Nokia 1600 is the perfect phone for my mom since it's so simple... hell, i love it so much that I got one for myself. I got rid of my Motorola L2 and am using the 1600 now. So much clearer... I don't care for Bluetooth or webrowser and other stuff I dont' use.

The font on the screen is bigger and since it has less functions it's not as confusing to her. Her phonebook has 6 #'s hahaha.

I hope Speakout sticks around for a while. Or other providers should take note. Give us at least 1 year expirations.

I wish SO had the ability to top up online or through a landline. Would make my life easier, but it just gives me a reason to go visit mom once in a while.
