Hi all,
I just purchased a SO phone and activated it today. I was wanting to port over a Fido number to the new phone but for the life of me can't reach the SO customer service.
I have called the 1-866 number and also tried contacting them through 611 but it's dead air that I get on both.
Is anybody else experiencing this problem? I am in the Vancouver area.
Thanks

I am thinking something went wrong with your activation. Can you call your new phone and it rings, and/or can you make other outgoing calls, other than to SpeakOut customer service?
Is this the number you called:
(1-866-310-1023) ?
That’s the official customer service number. Try calling them from a landline as well. An email explaining your situation would be helpful too:

Flowong,
The Speak Out system was experiencing technical difficulties this evening from approximately 6 PM until 8:30 PM EST. If you tried checking your balance OR calling SO customer service during this period, you would have been greeted with dead air for 10 to 15 seconds and your call would be disconnected afterwards. However, this issue did NOT affect (regular) incoming and outgoing calls made from a SO phone.
You were most likely trying to reach SO customer service during this downtime, and that’s why you weren’t able to reach them. The system seems to be back up now, so you could try calling them again to port over your Fido number.
Good luck.

Folks,
It's 2009-9-4 00h41 EDT and I've still got the Network Busy signal for *777, *888 and 611.

Mine never went down. Go figure! I think Virgin Mobile Canada was trying to hack their system

Thanks everyone. That makes sense. I was trying to contact them at that time. I was questioning my switch over to SO.
I'm happy to report that I was able to get a hold of them after all and they ported my FIDO number within 24 hours.
My faith has been restored.
