In having to change from UMB on Nokia C3, very occasional use mostly email app, decided to take a relative's offer of a Blackberry factory unlocked Z10 from the employee sale as a Christmas present.

Cut down my SIM, turned it on, found Speakout right away. Then, got a forced software must update message, and the damn thing got refreshed with a Rogers overlay, and also blocked out the Speakout APN, so, no data since it recognized the phone as a Rogers phone with no data plan. APN screen greyed out, unable to change it to SO APN.

Called Speakout. Useless, call your phone supplier they said.

This is their problem, why do they let Rogers overlay their crap and force APN on Speakout service. Yeah I know, they are on Rogers network but it looked like I hadn't paid for data since the network connection said Speakout:voice only.

//ecreens, opened APN, changed it, and chose the non-LTE option, then got working connection for SO for data.

Deleted as much Rogers crap as I could, but without crackberry site, would be screwed trying to get data to work because Rogers bully tactic.

Will see what happens when I go to USA and put my T-mobile SIM in it.
After all that, the Z10 is a nice phone, I'm on wifi mostly and the only thing that isn't working or I can't figure is receiving BBM picture messages, but then the sender is on BBM iPhone app (virgin).

this unfortunately is a phone issue. It seems that something is coded into your BB10 that once it recognize the network is rogers(doesn't matter fido or speakout or chatr I believe), it does something to the phone.

blame BB for allowing that, not SO.
