Since the manual for the Nokia 1208 is so grossly inadequate, I created some documentation myself. In case someone finds it useful, it can be found here:

Could you save this in a format that is readable across more platforms, like PDF, for us non-Windows users? The file is largely unreadable in StarOffice 8.0.

Also, some of the documentation we need might be found in other Nokia manuals. For example, the manual for the Nokia 3210 (3210_usersguide_en.pdf) seems to describe much of the menu items of the 1208. In one case, it has information on using the Composer to create ringtones. Some careful cut-and-paste could make this a very useful resource.

I may also write Nokia to complain about how useless this manual is and ask for a better one.

I emailed Nokia support, using the form on the nokia.ca web page, asking for a complete Nokia 1208 manual that describes all the functions of the phone. This is the response I received:

In other words, "we didn't care about producing a manual for this phone."

What I suggest is that, using the listing of menu items that micro has compiled, anyone interested in this phone can submit direct requests for individual functions to Nokia until we have a complete 1208 manual.
