hey, do you know when SO will get a texting phone?
if they will, would it be a slider or a blackberry style?

Seeing as they are reported to be launching an "almost unlimited" text plan in the coming months, I would guess that its very likely they will launch a texty phone as well. More than likely a cheap slider than a blackberry style phone. Although, I really liked the Samsung Link when I was with Virgin, and it was a cheap BB style phone, not GSM though.

The Samsung Hype is a GSM candybar phone with a QWERTY keypad. It looks just like some of the Samsung smartphones — but is a basic phone designed for texting.
You can get one at most places that sell Rogers Prepaid phones. I've seen it on sale at Zellers and Best Buy for $59.95 (including a Rogers SIM you could always sell).
It looks enough like a smart phone that some folks have tried getting ridiculous amounts of cash for used ones on Craigs List and/or usedeverywhere.com
Since it is already useable on Rogers, you could use it on SO whether SO themselves release it or not.
