For myself, Petro Canada stations are more common, every town has one here. So I could buy air-time anywhere. The Petro-points is a bonus.
I have the Nokia 1208 phone, I like it.

It's hardly so obvious if you already have a SpeakOut phone and SIM. Spending $49 in order to save 5¢/min in airtime means you'd have to talk ~1,000 min just to break even. And who knows, Petro-Can could just as easily raise their rates any time now.

Well, technically you can sell your SpeakOut SIM to cover at least half the cost of a new PetroCanada phone. And then, of course, you get a new phone.
