These are the new rates. To get $0.20 a minute you'd have to pay $50 too it seems. http://mobility.petro-canada.c…..s/187.aspx or else its $0.25 a minute.

It sure seems like Speak Out now is the better value.

hm, if its the same company behind it, I'd assume speakout is changing its fees too.

I dunno, I got petro cause it was more convenient to charge my phone. The one seven eleven where I live closed down this year.

We'll see if they change their rates.

One thing I've always liked about Speak Out over Petro Canada, is that any top up lasts a year. Now, Petro Canada's top ups last either a month, 4 months, 6 months, or a year. More confusing than Speak Out's top ups, where any denomination lasts a year.

haha what horrible luck. Plus I noticed that when I bought my phone with the $50 credit I was taxed on both the phone and the credit, is that normal to tax on phone credit?

You can buy airtime online now?!?! Now that's a reason to choose Petro Canada right there!

Also from their FAQ:

Q. Can I track my minutes on a monthly basis?

A. Yes, you can view your account statement and see the balance online.

I wonder if that just shows current balance or also a call-by-call summary of usage. If also the latter then that would be fantastic.

Bonjour

Been searching for answers about Cellphones, Plans, Options, … seems like forever. And luckily found them ALL here!!!
Hadn't even heard PetroCan having phones before! At first thought it was too good to be true … :>) Talked w a couple of ppl around, nobody knows about it either!

So, really do want to THANK Peter who created this Forum & everybody who participates, cause I really had no idea what to do, where to go, what to buy!!!
Been wanting to get a cell phone for well over a year (more like 2y. really …) for emergencies & such, but each time I try to tackle the subject I get an headache instead from all the confusion!! So I always give up.
Why ohhh why do cies make it so complicated??!!

Then, a couple of weeks ago I stumbled into this Forum, I could hardly believe my luck!

Anyway, found a PC station a small bike ride from my house, took the plunge & bought a 3555 phone yesterday & a $50. card.
FINALLY :>)
Doing the Happy Dance …

Un GROS MERCI,
Manu
