According to Speakout Customer Service the ringers are defective and the phones have been recalled. They won't be offering this phone or a comparably featured one this year so if you've been waiting on the $100 Airtime + free phone deal you better pick a different phone.

About 20 minutes ago I just received a call from my local 7-11 who said my 2720 (Eclipse) phone had just arrived and to come in and pick it up.

Where are you located? I just spoke to a victoria area 7-11 and they say the 23rd is the day they will get the phone. Pretty shoddy setup 7-11 has here.

Folks, the 2720 is available in at least one store in the GTA: the Yonge/Grenville store, just north of Yonge/College. There were at least two models left in the store today when I was there around 1:00 p.m.

I called Dunsmuir and Granville and they have it in stock. I'm contemplating if I should buy one now or get another phone.

Also, I just called Speakout Customer Service and they are not aware of any problems with Nokia 2720. Can someone who has the Nokia 2720 confirm if there's a problem with the ringer?

Ringer works just fine… A manager told me a couple of weeks ago that there were some (hardware) problems with the phone, which caused the shipping delay; I assume he was referring to the same issue.

I'm in Calgary. Availability at 7-11 stores varies depending on the store, my store said they order phones on a Monday and receive them on Friday, could be different order/receive days at other locations. Doesn't seem to be any consistency between my local stores, they seem to order what they think will sell.

captain is wrong.

The store I went to in Hamilton received a large shipment yesterday at 4:30 and I was there around 5 buying one.

It's not the best phone, but it's ok. Slightly better form factor than the 2760 but otherwise not a large win.

I was checking one out at a Best Buy earlier this week. I had heard the keypad was kind of flaky, but I didn't really see that at all. My only complaint was that the keypad is too big, but that's largly just personal preference. It's not like I like those keypads where they squeeze an entire qwerty keyboard into a space 5cm wide, but I do like them a bit compact.
