Got a response:
"Yes we are just in the process of shipping cards to our stores and most locations will have available at a cost of $10.00 starting on or about August 1st
Ask your local store manager to call you when he receives his or her stock.
- Askspeakout"
I called one of my local stores and they took my name and phone number.

That's all fine and good, but I'm waiting for the day when you can buy them online, as well as top-up vouchers, phones etc. This still doesn't help those who aren't remotely close to a 7-Eleven.

Thanks everyone for the updates on this subject of great interest to all of us.
It's too bad the company can't be more forthright and come up with specific announcements of their plans like a normal company would. It seems a little desperate for us users to be always updating each other with the latest unconfirmed and again-delayed rumour!
Is this product an especially low priority for the company, or are they this sloppy and un-businesslike in all of their dealings?

I think that they are just a little sloppy. I am also thinking that the SIM cards will be on sale (in 7/11 stores) soon. If (or not) they will ever sell the SIM cards online I don't know - they have never said that they would (AFAIK)

I just bought a SO SIM card at a 7-11 in Windsor, Ontario, so they are there, the clerks mentioned that they just got them, and it cost $10. Had to do the activation over the phone, and it doesn't come with any value.

well. I just went to a 7-11 store in Donmills road in Toronto and talked to clerks in person today, and it doesn't carry sim cards at this moment. They don't know if SO will sell it seperately or not. That is to say, people still have to buy a phone OR pay $25 and wait for a mail.

Any other news?

That store at Don Mills is one of the worst.
For long time they did not take CC payment for SP.
The reason too many frauds.

I have suspicion somebody from inside only involved.
They write your BD, License info on back of receipt.

The sales clerk dont know many things and had to be old its this way or that way.

hmmmm?I was stupid . I should have taken the nokia 1661 for $19 with 20 mins airtime(equals to $5 dollars) if I buy $50 voucher. That is to say, I only pay $14 to get a sim card from SO, although I have to pay $69 in total. It seems like a good deal and saves time&money , right,
but I don't have too many calls to make.

Picked up a SIM from the Vaughan Location today. The one that is close to Rutherford and Keele - they just got them in today. I was about to bite the bullet and get the phone package - but luckily I decided to ask first.

I was the second person to buy.

I went Tinseltown 7-Eleven, but they told me that they don't sell SIM cards only.
