The Sony E1 is not a very good phone for the price. If you are looking for this type of phone, get a Huawei Ascend Y530 for $45 instead.
The Huawei Ascend Y530 has slightly better specs than the E1 at a much better price. http://www.visions.ca/Catalogu.....ku=VASCEND

Both phones need to be unlocked to be able to work with Speakout. You can get an unlock code for the Huawei Ascend Y530 for about $4 http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Unlock-.....1186444672

An unlock code for the Sony Xperia E1 costs around $18. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Unlock-.....1501452611

Thank you Bridonca for your suggestion - i got a free phone from rogers 2 years ago or so nokia 710 and i got it unlocked and it was used 2 weeks here in Canada but when i took it overseas it sat in aeroplane mode took it to a cell phone kiosk and they changed the sim tray - not working took it to a nokia cust care outlet and they said motherboard needs to be replaced so i just brought it back here.

need to keep a backup phone for my Canadian cell i like sony because i have had luck using them.

This E1 is a Sony phone in name only. Sony does not do cheap very well, and the E1 is a good example of that. Every corner that could be cut, has been with the E1. When compared to my 3 year old Xperia pro or Ray, the E1 compares poorly, especially the camera. I hear Sony's newer expensive phones are really good though. Stay away from the E1 though.

Huawei does cheap much better. Huawei also compromises on hardware to get to a certain price point, but even so, their gear seems solid and reliable despite the low price point.

You were mentioning the Nokia 710. If you see the Nokia 635, snag it. Very nice Windows phone that I think you would be comfortable with. The Nokia 635 has been sold for $40 in some places, but I have not seen a sale like that for a while.

Thank you very much for your response Bridonca, yes I do hope to purchase the nokia 635 one when I goes less expensive

I phoned nokia service centre and they said they will look into my nokia 710 and see if it is fixable.
Thank you very much again for your timely help

I managed to get a nokia 635 from walmart.ca rogers for $100 (thank you to bridonca who advised to get one ) (Looking for another same phone but the sale is gone) but the price to unlock is $35 is that how much it costs. I saw on the you tube wherein they suggest to get some unlocking company to give you the code.
Do those codes work? i dont want to take the phone overseas and find that it is not unlocked.
any help will be grateful

Darn, the Rogers Nokia 635 is not cheap to unlock. I found a vendor that will do it for under $15 CDN. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Nokia-L.....1676195786 Never dealt with this vendor, but person is located in Canada, has great feedback, and vendor specifically states a Rogers Nokia 635 phone can be unlocked by this person.

I assume you want to use this phone out of country, because you do not have to unlock this Rogers Nokia 635 for it to work with your Speakout SIM card, as Speakout is compatible with Rogers phones.

Thank you Bridonca for all your timely help.

The person on this link however could not unlock the nokia 635. this is what he replied
the results finally came back and unfortunately the code was not found after trying multiple sources. it usually only take a few hours but my supplier was checking with multiple sources to get the unlock code but was unsuccessful in doing so. sorry about the delay but we tried all we could.

i will issue a full refund. thank you

No worries i will get it done thru the person who normally does our unlocking - he said $35.

Thank you very much for all your help - appreciate it.sf-smile_gifsf-smile_gif
