A SO Nokia 1680 won't work in HK because it only supports the North American GSM bands (850/1900) which are different from Asia. You will need to either get a 900/1800 unlocked GSM phone or a quadband (850/900/1800/1900) unlocked GSM phone. The latter will work in both NA and HK. Motorola RAZR phones are quadband and are now available for as little as $50 or $60.

Regardless you will need a HK SIM. I imagine you can easily get one locally once you land in HK.

Hi:

Does anyone know if the Nokia 1680 would work in Hong Kong.....I bought the phone in Canada and will be making a short trip to Hong Kong and would like to use this phone over there. I am confused about (dual bands, quads??) that work in North America and not in Asia. I believe there are alot of choices in phones that work in Asia even if you buy it in N.America...but I am not to tech savvy?? any insight would be grateful!!!

I am aware that my Canadian SIM card would not work in HK so I would have to buy a local SIM card and "maybe" a new phone-->pls correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks,
Jackie
