What if I do not have enough for 911 fee?

Say I only have $0.25 left in my balance. Would it:

a) Just take the remaining $0.25. Then I refill.

b) Take the remaining $0.25. Then I refill. But with -$1.00.

That is a good question. I do not believe it will take your last 25 cents though I am not sure about that. I do know the owed fee will be taken out of you when you refill. There is always a chance it will suck you dry, and still debit you $1.25. It would be interesting to find the actual result.

I think this was discussed before. As far as I remember, the will not deduct just the $0.25, but will wait until you refill, then deduct the $1.25.

So I went without airtime for 4 months, and I bought $25 airtime today, but it says I only have $20 in my account. From my understanding, the fees must be getting compounded then subtracted from your account when you fill up. Is that true?

Yes, as long as your account is not totally deactivated, the 911 fee will still be deducted, regardless if your phone was used or not.

i pretty much only use my phone as a pager and avoid using any airtime. i have 35cents on my account and the 911 fee is due to be deducted in a few days. i'm going to see if my account will still be active until jan 2012 when my airtime is set to expire without topping up, i wonder if it'll work.

No it won't. If you don't top-up, after a certain amount of time, your account will be deactivated and deleted.

or maybe not? here's the response i got when i emailed them:

Your account will stay active as long as your account has airtime and the airtime has not expired. However, if there is insufficient funds for the system to removed the 911 fee, once you add an airtime voucher, it will take all the outstanding fees. You will receive a pre call announcement when your account is approaching expiry (15 days or less) advising that your airtime is about to expire and you will also receive a pre call announcement advised your account is low once your airtime is below $2.00.

Wouldn't it have been easier and quicker to ask SpeakOut first? ;)
