I'm about to buy a SO phone. Will I get a local area code? Another forum has a thread "Area code does not matter".
BUT if I get a Toronto area code and live in Kingston my pals will be calling long distance to reach me???

It doesn't matter. If you're in Kingston but you get a phone with a 416 area code just call SO CS, tell them you've moved to Kingston and you want a local 613 number.
