there is a faster way. I had the same problem. Just click on Forgot Password and they will email you new password right away. Then put your login and paste the NEW password and you should be good to go. Work for me. Once your in just change your password to whatever you want.

Thanx micnic. I'm good to go!

Looks like you can now top-up online without an account:

No, you can't top up online yet. You can activate a voucher bought in a retail 7-Eleven store, but you can't buy top-ups online yet.

Actually – that is what I meant by "top-up online". Looking at the link I posted it should be obvious that you can only enter your voucher number there, not actually purchase air time.

Oh ok, because just by your post it seemed like a little misleading, since you can't buy top-ups online yet, and you can already do the same things on your phone (*777 to check your balance, *888 to activate a voucher). I would rather just punch in the code to my phone, then go to a website to do it.

Once you are able to buy top-ups online though, that will be huge, as it will open up the market to those not close to a 7-Eleven.

That will be huge, but I fear it will come with a tradeoff. Right now, having a program that forces customers into the 7-11 stores regularly (only once a year for some of us, more frequently for those who actually use the phones a lot) generates more profitable business for 7-11 (Slurpees, smokes, milk, magazines, the goal is to get you in the store).

Once you can buy a refill online, or on the phone, the benefit to 7-11 is much less. They need a program to compete, but the competition may not be much beyond selling a handset.

Perhaps the competitive benefits of SpeakOut are there partly _because_ of the scarcity of 7-11s (to offer an appeal in competition with the more common Petro-Canadas, for example).

I do hope they can keep the program the same, while making it easier for us who no longer have a 7-11 handy.

iamdrumming,

In my case, able to top up online is still a HUGE step forward because I have to deal with may friends and family who are senior, out of town / country as snowbirds, etc. Now, I do not even need to tell them the voucher codes but help them all the way through.

In continuation of this thread, my source said although no firm date has been set, SpeakOut looks to have e-commerce (buying top-ups online) available on the site around February or March 2011.

that would be awesome!
An addition, it would be really good if one would be able to pay automatically monthly, much like the petro canada website.
One step at a time I guess :) tnx for the info.

February 8th update: e-mailed Speakout today about online airtime purchases, and this is the reply I received:

We have been working on updating our web site to add new functionality to our site. We believe we will launch in the next 60 – 90 days but best to keep checking back to our website for the most recent updates.

A couple more months it seems…

Just got a SMS saying that you can now manage all aspects of Speakout online now!
http://www.speakout7eleven.ca/

Haven't tested yet. Will do so now.

[EDIT]
Okay, you can only activate vouchers online… can't top-up :(

However you can add bundles to your account.

Anything new on this? It's been 2 months since the last update. Sure would be nice to buy a voucher online. It's a long drive to the nearest store from Ottawa!

Why is this thread posted to "Website Changes"? How are people supposed to find it here?

Because it is a link on the home page right beside Online top-ups.
