Okay, so I bought a new SpeakOut phone, but haven't activated it as of yet. Does anyone know how long the initial $5.00 start-up credit that comes with every new phone is good for?

Also, does anyone know when you call the automated system to activate the phone what kind of questions do they ask in order to complete the new phone activation?

Please let me know, thanks!

The 7-digit activation code included with your phone. You might also be asked for a password to be used with the account. That's it.

All the information/codes and activation guide (blue card) should have been included in the box when you bought your phone. The activation code, and also the store number will be needed to activate your phone.

So what happens if you don't buy a phone but you get a sim card privately and bought airtime and are using an unlocked/rogers phone?

The $5 start-up credit would have been applied to the account balance when the owner first activated with SpeakOut. When you buy a used SIM, you get the remaining account balance and expiry date.
