So, I asked SO about this today and this is what they replied:

"Thank you for contacting SpeakOut Wireless. We are working on our online store and we are in the final stages. We are waiting for some final approvals and hope to launch by the summer. Keep checking back."

I don't know what they mean by "by the summer". According to my calendar, summer starts this week!
And I don't know why they keep asking us to "check back". It would be a lot more efficient if they would just make an announcement of major new developments like this. Isn't that what a website is for? In the meantime we'll just have to keep each other informed by the "rumour mill"

It would be rude for the Speakout CSR to say it will be done when our programmer gets off his fat fanny and does some actual work! Probably closer to the truth though! :) It will be done when it was done. It was rather foolish of Speakout for putting out an actual ETA! :)

First post – I've never owned a cellphone but am interested in Speakout, as a light phone user I would surely be interested in finding out when the option to purchase time online becomes available as there are only two 711's in London and I don't drive. Then I can send Ma Bell packing. I just want a phone to use as a phone – don't need web or text or anything else – yea I'm an old timer…LOL

Welcome aboard, Luc. Just be glad you aren't in Ottawa. There are no more stores east of Peterboro since they sold out to Quickie a couple of years ago.

You can top-up online now:

http://www.speakout7eleven.ca/buy-online

Unfortunately, due to regulatory and language requirements they were not able to make ecommerce available to the province of Quebec.

It still is great news though to everyone else, especially those on the East coast, and anyone not close to a 7-Eleven.

I'm glad that online topping is finally possible! At the same time I can't believe that it won't work in Quebec!

Do you think prepaid credit cards would work to charge a Quebec number?

If you're in Quebec and can send me an e-mail money transfer (or ING Direct e-mail money transfer, which is free for the sender), I can purchase the voucher online for you. Just send me a private message if you're interested.

That is great news. Hopefully the local store has a C3 in stock, might as well get wifi…

Note that the QC restriction is on billing address, not on phone number.

I just topped up a 514 number on the website, using an Ottawa billing address. No voucher, just an instant addition of $25 to my balance (and 13% HST, I guess an Albertan would pay 5% GST to top up my 514 number online :) .

Someone in Alberta should start a small business to provide prepaid phone top up service.

If there's demand, I'd certainly consider it. :)

The problem is if it were truly a business, the seller would have to pay the 5% GST, claim it back, and charge 13% HST to the Ontario customer. :(

That's great! Topping up online is a HUGE plus to those not near a 7-Eleven. I'm very glad SpeakOut made it happen.
