I got wind of a rumour that if you buy a $100 airtime at 7-Eleven, you get a Speakout SIM card and a phone for free! The promotion is supposed to start on November 16th, will see if it is true or not.

They're probably trying to get rid of the Nokia 1661's they have in stock.
I know you can buy the Nokia 1661 and the Nokia C3 online now. You don't have to go to the store.

Free 1661, or $39 off any of their phones. I wonder if you can get the promo with an online top-up, or only in-store?

Looks like you can order it online. As a test, I went to add the Nokia 1661 to the cart and it offered me to add the $100 voucher as well.
Looks like there's also a 25% airtime bonus, as the voucher was listed in the cart as "$100 Top Up Voucher + BONUS $25 Top Up"

The Nokia 2220 is on sale for $30, does that mean it would be free as well when buying $100 top up since you get $39 towards any phone? Any the Nokia 2720 would be a dollar? (its on sale for $40)????

Hi, was at a 7-11 in Hamilton today and saw $39 off a phone plus the $25 bonus if you buy $100 voucher, I don't think the bonus was on the website the other day but it is now. Good stuff !!!

With the extra $25 airtime this may now be worthwhile. The $39 incentive seemed weak compared to previous offers and I was just going to go with a minimum $25 top up. $64 incentive on a $100 spend is much better.

Is it possible to buy $100.00 voucher with a free Nokia 1661, but top up the $100.00 voucher to another phone, leave the new Nokia 1661 not activated or activated with a separately purchased $25.00 voucher?

the 25 bonus is for the top up, not tied to the phone. so yes you can.

Looks like they've finally run out of Nokia 1661's and are selling Nokia 1616's now.
Should of waited a little longer and got a slightly better, newer phone,
Still there's always next year.

Hi I have 2 questions:
If ordering the phone online, does Speakout charge for shipping?
If ordering online, do they mail the topup code or is it sent right away through email?
Thanks for all the great info, this site is fantastic!

Hello. I purchased the nokia 1616 and a $100 voucher just over a month ago. With the current "sale" they are having, could i bring in my receipt to 7-11 and get credited ? Is that even possible hehe. Thanks

I like this time of the year, that' when I fill my phone with the $100 voucher and get a free phone in the process. Last year I got the nokia 1661 and I hate this phone due to extremely low volume. It is impossible to hear the other person while driving unless the speakerphone is on and even then it's low – and I have good hearing.
Question is, is the 1616 any better? If not I may upgrade to the 2760 since it has a camera but it lacks a flashlight. I find the flashlight in the 16 series really handy and wish every phone came with one. Can someone please let me know how the volume of these three models compare to one another? And please make it fast, the promo ends in a couple of days and would like the informed opinion of the users here before buying.
Also what is the resolution and fps of this 1.3 camera on the 2720?
Thanks

Not true, at least at Nicol Street in Nanaimo, BC. I bought the package this morning. The supervisor told me that they were not allowed to sell the 1616 model until they had sold out all their 1661. So, buyer beware, phone the branch first, or buy online.

Hi all, running out of time for the promo, can someone please confirm from my post above if the volume on the 1616 is louder than the really poor volume in the 1661? Of for that matter if 2720 suffers from the same anemic volume? Thanks

Thanks edn, I'm leaning more towards the 2720 anyway, so this confirms that that's the way to go. The camera is a big incentive as it's always good to have one handy. Shame that there is only 32mb of internal memory that can't be expanded. Guess this means every time you take a pic of video to quickly empty it to the computer (thank goodness for the bluetooth).
Cheeers and happy new year all.
