Let's say you want to donate 5 dollars to the red cross. They provide you with a number you are meant to text with a certain phrase and it deducts the 5 dollars from your prepaid balance.

Does this work with SO?

From the official site:

“Can I send messages to text message short codes? Do I even know what this means?” question arrow
“No. This service is not available from SpeakOut. Short codes are commonly used to access voting services and mobile services, etc.”

Some people have reported lately that short codes do work on their iPhones, but until they change the statement above on the official site, that's what we have to go by.
