I have been using Fido on a prepaid basis for a few years now. I've never had a contract with Fido.
Does anyone know if I can have my Fido phone number ported to a SO phone if I have always been on prepaid?

OK, that's great!
I take it that I just need to call SO after buying my new phone and they will do the porting. Do I do this before activating the phone?

SO phones are preactivated. Once you have your SO phone Just call SO CS and tell them you want to port your Fido number.

One thing to remember is that you might need to have that prepaid account active when you port it, they need to call you on Fido to verify that its really your phone.

Is anybody interested in writing a "Guide to porting to 7-Eleven Speak Out Wireless"? I can't pay you to do this (the latest $50 contest sapped the ad revenue from this site). However, this would be a useful resource for the community as this question comes up rather frequently!

I have ported the Fido pre-paid phone # to PCan's new phone 4 months ago. I told the PC CS to port the phone # in the afternoon. On the next morning at 10 am I received a massage from the PC CS said the phone # was ported successfully. It took about 18 hours. I also ported another Fido pre-paid phone # to SO's new phone 3 weeks ago. It was the same to take 18 hours to finished the porting. Fido didn't charge me anything because these were pre-paid phones but I lost all the money ( air time ) in this two A/Cs.
